Microphone pitch detection
Not listeningPlay a note
We'll detect the pitch through your microphone. Audio stays on your device — nothing is sent anywhere.
How it works
The tuner samples audio from your microphone, then runs ACF2+ autocorrelation to find the fundamental frequency. The detected frequency is compared to the nearest equal-tempered note (A4 = 440 Hz).
Reading the meter
- Within ±5¢ — in tune. The note tile glows green.
- ±5 to ±15¢ — close. Fine-tune carefully.
- Beyond ±15¢ — turn the peg. Flat = below center, sharp = above.
Privacy
Audio is analyzed locally via the Web Audio API. Your microphone stream never leaves the browser. Stop listening to release the mic.
Tips
- Play each string solo, not strummed.
- Pick near the bridge for a cleaner fundamental.
- Tune flat → up. Slipping pegs settle better that way.
- Quiet room helps. Background noise pulls the reading.
